A 20 year old student of Geetanjali Medical College died yesterday evening after drowning in Badi lake. The body was found by divers after an hour long search operation in the lake.

The deceased, Azim Bhati, who hails from Bikaner was a student of 2nd year of MBBS at Geetanjali Medical College and was staying at Sector-11, Goverdhan Vilas. He went to Badi Lake yesterday with his friends for a picnic.

Azim and all five of his friends Vinay , Ishanq, Krishna, Shahrukh and Surabh went inside the water but suddenly Azim and Krishna started drowning. Watching them drown, Surabh came forward to rescue but couldn’t and he also started drowning. Upon getting the information, teams of Nai and Ambamata police station reached the spot and with the help of divers they started the search operation. After around an hour of effort, the diver found the dead body of the boy, which was shifted to mortuary, as per Police.

UPDATE:

The body of the deceased was handed over to the relatives after post-mortem. Relatives and classmates of the deceased were gathered outside the mortuary.

A twist in the episode has now come up, where on one side the deceased’s friend lodged a report that he drowned in the lake; on the other hand his family members doubt his death to be a planned one.

Azim’s uncle, Rais informed that a few days back he had an argument with one of his classmate over an issue. He also shifted his room from the hostel to his present residence a year back after he allegedly had issues with other boys. Azim was staying in touch with his guardian in Udaipur, Anita residing at Hiran Magri.

Azim was the only son in the family and has two sisters. One of his sisters is a Doctor in Jaipur and another is working as a Doctor in Jhalavad; his father is a retired Colonel.

Yesterday he went with his friends to Fateh Sagar lake and later they planned a picnic to Badi Lake. He was accompanied by his classmates. His parents have given a report to the police department for thorough investigation of the matter.
