23-year-old Jagdish Sahu, student of second year (Arts) died in the road accident while his friend Yash Khatri who was riding the bike sustained severe injuries and admitted in hospital.

The mishap took place today morning at University Road when an auto rickshaw reportedly hit the motorcycle from behind.

The crash was so stern that Jagdish (in photo above) who was pillion rider flung in the air and fell down. He received severe head injuries and died on the spot. Jagdish’s friend Yash Khatri and the rickshaw driver also got injured.

Jagdish belonged to Pali and currently living in Udaipur with his brother at Manvakheda, while Yash’s father Prof. L.C Khatri is teaching at MLSU’s Geography Department.

Both students left the University campus and were going towards city. After reaching few meters away from the University Gate, an auto rickshaw hit the bike from behind.

Large number of students gathered on the spot, police and college administration were also informed.

Student Union group CSS approached Vice Chancellor and appealed to give financial assistance to the victim’s family. Taking speedy action, Rs.21000 cash was given to victim’s brother as compensation and the insurance amount of Rs.100, 000 will be also handed over within three days.

Students and faculties of the college were in shock after getting the news.
