A police constable, posted at Kailashpuri, Sukher died in a road accident after a truck container hit him on Saturday while he was returning to the post from Delwara village.

The mishap occurred on Saturday evening when the constable Bheem Singh Rao (55) was heading towards Kailashpuri on his bike from Delwara. As soon as he reached the midway, he was hit by a fast moving truck container from behind.

After hitting the victim, the truck driver fled from the scene leaving the truck behind which was later confiscated by the police. The Sukher police team rushed to the spot and shifted the constable to MB Hopsital for treatment. But due to severity of the accident, he succumbed to his injuries and the body was shifted to the mortuary, informed police.

An FIR was lodged against the unidentified accused driver of the truck for negligent driving. Sukher police further informed that Rao was serving the police department since a long time and was posted at Sukher police station from past 3 years.
