A 29-year-old Ratan Rajput employed as Police home guard died in hospital today morning, while undergoing treatment for severe injuries on face.

Rajput was found lying wounded on a roadside allegedly after been hit by a vehicle at Old Toll Naka, Pratapnagar. There is news about the vehicle involved.

According to Pratapnagar Police where Ratan was posted on night duty, today morning when he was returning home, early morning at 5:30, an unidentified vehicle allegedly hit him, later a passerby called police and informed about the incident.

Police rushed Ratan to MB Hospital, where he was declared dead while undergoing treatment. Ratan is survived by his wife and three children, including a 4-month-old boy. Ratan Rajput was the only earning hand in the family after his brother’s death, the incident has mentally depressed his mother.

According to Deputy Commander (Home Guard) Subhash Yadav, there is a welfare association of Home Guards that provides financial aid to the family of their colleagues who face any accident or death.

There are more than 1000 home guards in Udaipur and 200 of them are deployed for night patrolling in different areas of the city.
