School Building collapses, 5 students injured

Five students of a Government senior secondary school of Karawada village, Kherwada thesil buried under a roof on Saturday morning after the building collapsed suddenly. The victims with minor injuries were rescued by the villagers and school teachers.

 

Five students of a Government senior secondary school of Karawada village, Kherwada thesil buried under a roof on Saturday morning after the building collapsed suddenly. The victims with minor injuries were rescued by the villagers and school teachers.

The incident occurred at 8.45 AM when the school staff and students were busy with morning prayers on the ground. The mishap startled everyone as 5 students of the class were present at the spot.

Later a team of Kherawada police station and Tehsildar rushed to the scene to find that nobody sustained severe injuries in the mishap.

Few parents and teachers informed that no repair or maintenance work had been initiated in the school since its establishment in 1984. They further added that they had intimated the authorities of the department as well as public representatives about its shabby condition but no action was taken. Moreover 2 more rooms were constructed in the old structure of the school in 2002.

The teachers informed that 4 rooms collapsed in the mishap that included class rooms of 8th and 9th standard, Library and computer lab where usually 60 students out of the total 198 student of the school remains present every day after the assembly gets over. But as it was assembly time so all the students were on the school ground and a big mishap was avoided.
