17-year-old Anush Steffin Jacob, student of 11^th standard and resident of Alipura died in Fateh Sagar Lake due to drowning. The heartbreaking incident occurred today morning when Anush, with a group of friends went to Rajiv Gandhi Park near Fatehsagar.

According to information provided by sources, although none of the boys knew swimming, Anush allegedly stepped inside the lake and lost balance. He started drowning in the lake but his friends could not save him.

Immediately after the incident, Anush’s parents were informed, who rushed to the spot.

Ambamata Police responded to the site and the body of the deceased was pulled out by rescue divers.

Anush, who was studying in St. Paul’s recently cleared 11^th standard and was to attend the new session after summer vacations. Anush’s father is employed with a local marble company.
