Students protest violently over Road Accident that killed fellow student

Students from CTAE (MPUAT) demonstrated heavily outside collectorate today morning and blocked the busiest crossroad demanding compensation for death of a student Narendra Khilery, 26, in a road accident at Shobhagpura last night.
Two of Narendra friends were also injured in the accident that occurred on Tuesday night when their motorcycle crashed with a car. Narendra was student of engineering at CTAE and belonged to Kuchaman City, Nagaur.
Backed by student unions, the young protestors demanded Rs.15 lac as compensation. They also demanded the suspension of SHO of Sukher Police Station alleging him of being negligent in taking action.
Compensation of Rs.50,000 from CM Relief Fund was announced by Narayan Singh Bhati ADM. Not satisfied with the compensation amount, students angrily started moving towards Delhi Gate crossroad.
Some young men lay down blocking the road traffic whereas another group torched clothes at Chouraha. Traffic from all sides was affected at Delhi Gate and Court Circle.
Higher police officials including S.P., Ad S.P, Dy S.P and SHOs of all city police stations were present to handle the law and order situation. Anti-government protests started at 11am and went on till 3pm.

How legitimate are such violent demonstrations by youth? Stopping traffic and damaging government property is not only unlawful but also affects local citizens creating havoc and fear.
In quite a few of the cases, such protests rapidly move beyond addressing the root cause and turn into a play ground for anti-social elements.
