In another incident of heavy vehicles creating a nuisance in residential areas of the city, a truck smashed into a house in Khanjipeer colony, first hitting the wall of the excise department’s office and then crushing another vehicle parked nearby.

The angry residents caught hold of the driver and spotter and thrashed them before handing over to the police.

The mishap took place on Friday night around 9:40 when an outsized truck bearing a Udaipur number plate entered Khanjipeer from Patel Circle. That moment, many local youth were busy decorating the area for preparation of the upcoming occasion of Milad un Nabi.

The truck first banged into the wall of the excise office and while trying to reverse, it crashed into a mini truck parked alongside. Enraged with the mishap, locals of area caught both the driver and spotter who were allegedly drunken. The furious mob also tried to set the truck on fire but the situation was controlled after police reached the spot and arrested both driver and spotter.

Abdul Khan, resident of Gausia Colony and one of the eye witness informed UT that, it is a residential area and there are two schools situated here, the passing of heavy vehicles continues everyday and this was the second accident as on the same spot four people died six years ago.”

“We all demand that heavy vehicle should not be allowed to enter in the area” said, Khan.
