A 26 year old under trial prisoner at Udaipur Jail, Kamlesh Gameti alias Kalu, died at M.B hospital on Friday during treatment.  The relatives of the deceased man expressed doubt over reasons behind his death and pointed their suspicion towards the Jail administration.

Kishan Gameti father of Kalu informed that his son was an under trial prisoner at Central Jail, Udaipur since last 2 months subsequent to his arrest by the Hiran Magri police under charges of theft and loot.  Kishan was informed by jail staff 3 days back about his son’s illness after which he and his family went to M.B Hospital to discover that Kalu had been admitted since 14th June.  When Kishan and his family reached the hospital, they found that Kalu had been transferred to Intensive Care and was being operated on his Abdomen.
Relatives of Kamlesh are now questioning the jail staff that if their was was operated at the hospital then why they were not intimated in advance.  Also, no specific reason for operating Kalu has been given by any of the jail staff.  Moreover, Kalu was a healthy man and was not having any severe illness previously, said the Chairman of Krishi Mandi and relative of Kamlesh, Mour Singh.

On the other side, Jailer of Udaipur Central Jail, Hari Prasad Kumawat, while talking about matter said that Kamlesh was admitted to M.B Hospital on 14th June and immediately his family members were informed about the incident.  Also he confirmed that he had no idea of Kamlesh’s illness. Deceased Kamlesh’s relatives are of the opinion / doubt that probably Kamlesh was beaten in Jail, and this resulted in his falling Ill and subseqent admission to Hospital.  Hospital authorities, on their part are silent on the matter.
