Emergency Medical Service-108 driver Kripa Shankar and Medical Technician Praveen Kumar turned out as saviors for the 9-month pregnant Rodi Bai, resident of Debari who delivered a baby inside the ambulance while on the way to hospital last night.

Presence of mind and humane approach resulted in the safe delivery of the baby and timely medical attendance to both mother and child.

The incident occurred after the midnight of 7^th July when Kripa Shankar and Praveen were asked to respond to a call from Debari, where a pregnant woman needed medical assistant.

Both rushed to the spot and picked the patient Rodi Bai, but while on the way to hospital, the woman cried out in pain. For an instance, both employees of the 108-Ambulance were in confusion, but that very moment, they decided to stop the ambulance on the road side near Ashok Nagar and the delivery was effected in the Ambulance itself.

Soon after the delivery, both mother and child were admitted to the maternity ward of MB Hospital and their condition is said to be normal.
