A young woman, who was attempting to jump in Lake Fatehsagar today was rescued in the nick of time by an NCC cadet. The incident occurred on the Fatehsagar Paal. The police have reached the spot and have taken the women into custody.

According to NCC Cadet Lakhan Singh (in photo above), he spotted the woman sitting very close to the water all by herself. Finding the situation suspicious, the cadet approached the woman, rescuing her in the process.

Little could be known about the woman apart from the fact that she resides in Dewali and was depressed over family issue.

Need of Lake Guard

Being the City of Lakes, Udaipur’s beautiful attractions have also become places for people suffering from depression and looking to end their lives by jumping into the water.

The growing number of incident indicates that there is a need for measures that can prevent such situations and abate the loss of lives.

Lake guards are one of these preventive measures that we would like to suggest. A team of expert swimmers should be appointed at odd timings, when the lake areas are less crowded.

Even responsible citizens can make a team of volunteers to guard the lakes.
