Chairman satisfied with condition of Minorities in the region
Mahir Raza, Chairman of the Minority Commission was in Udaipur on a two day visit. He left today afternoon, after having conducted a meeting yesterday at the Collectorate, which was based on a 15 point agenda.

Subsequently, before leaving today, he initiated a public meeting today, where problems related to minority communities were heard in detail.
One of the major topics was the recent riot in Gogunda, in which many shops belonging to members of the minority community were destroyed or completely burnt.
The members of the minority from Gogunda, gathered at the meeting to voice their problems and concerns. They demanded compensation for their loss and Raza, in his capacity as Chairman, heard their problems and promised that their demands will be met by the Government.
Raza also opined that he supported the fact that the main culprit of the incident in Gogunda be duly punished, but the brunt of the same should not have been borne by the other members of the community.
On a more positive note, he said that during his touring of the nearby areas in Udaipur, he found that the conditions of the members of the minority communities was much better than in other cities and regions of Rajasthan. He mentioned that many minority related schemes such as Girls Hostel and Scholarship schemes are underway and are being implemented properly.
During his tour of the region, he was accompanied by Manvendra Singh Bagga, Minority Commission member; Advocate Subhan Khan, senior member of the Commission; and Mohammad Abu Bakr, Secretary of the Commission.
