Collector kick-starts proceeding for Ayad River Development Project
A meeting was convened today by District Collector Ashutosh AT Pednekar at Collectorate, where the Ayad river Development Project was given a green signal. The concerned departments were instructed to start the initial process of various modules assigned to them.

A presentation by Vepcos Limited was also shown. The same was thoroughly discussed by all attendees and necessary changes were suggested. Along with Sewage Treatment Plant, the Ayad River Development project is initially estimated to cost around Rs. 250 crores. Issues regarding consistent flow of Ayad River, beautification of area around the river and sewage treatment of the water were discussed.
Collector informed that all the necessary post-project procedures will be completed on priority which includes marking the contextual lands, design and layout of sidewalks and installation of floodlights. One of the major action areas would be to start the work of setting up the Sewage Treatment Plants.
“The beautification of Ayad river is also a major priority as it will greatly help in fulfilling the dream of making Udaipur a Venice of the East”, quoted Collector.
Design of road networks around Ayad river and construction of small parks on its banks was emphasized by the collector. “Nearly 149 sources throw sewage water in Ayad. This will now be routed to the Sewage Treatment plant from where it will be processed and redirected to Udaisagar”, informed Collector.
4 anicuts will also be developed at different locations in Ayad. “The initial works of constructing roads and marking the locations of parks will be started first, and the proceeding will start within a week to kickstart the project.”
The meeting was attended by officials and engineers of Vepcos Limited, Rajni Dangi and Dr. RP Sharma including other department heads.
