Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) has demolished another illegal construction in the city today amid public protest. The action was taken at Mali Colony, Tekri.
The Anti Encroachment Wing of UIT removed illegally acquired land. The property is owned by the trust and was proposed to convert into 100ft road connecting Tekri with Hiran Magri.
Locals of the area who illegally possessed the land protested against UIT officials but the police force present on the spot controlled the situation.
Few people also pelted stones at the demolition team and the JCB vehicles. Seeing the situation, an additional team of police was deployed.
UIT Secretary Ram Niwas Mehta informed that the land is owned by trust for the construction of 100ft road but some people illegally established businesses by doing encroachment. The area is now cleared with encroachment. UIT Tehsildar Baburam Meena was also present on the spot.
“The area is now cleared and new road will be constructed shortly” said Mehta.
