A 50 years old ancestral house at Kumharwada locality is facing a potential collapse due to weakened foundation and lack of renovation. A family of five, including three children, is now helpless and has no choice left but to continue living in this life threatening condition.

The owner of this house, Ramesh Lohar, is a labour in Electric Board Department and could not afford to maintain the renovation of house at Kumharwada, Data Bheru Marg.

Ramesh said that, “Fifteen days back Rajni Dangi, Chairperson, UMC was on the ward inspection and she examined the condition of my house but nothing has been done after that. Now the monsoon season is approaching and it will be very difficult for me and my family members to live in this half wrecked house”.

Ramesh Lohar, father to three children is financially not very sound. He inherited the house from his father that was built by him fifty years back. No recent renovation had been done on the house and the structure’s foundation has gone weak. Ramesh had given many written complaints to the Municipal Council requesting them to properly demolish the house, so that he could rebuild it with whatever little money he has.

According to Ramesh, the councilor of Ward no. 12 Lalit Prajapat has also been aware about his condition but no action has been taken which has only led the condition to worsen. On being contacted, Lalit Prajapat said that “I agree that there has been negligence on the part of Municipal Council. On my part I have tried to solve this issue many a times”
