Taking the business community of the city by surprise, authorities from the Income Tax department raided more than a dozen premises in Udaipur today.

The Income Tax officers faced major resistance at the Prateek Jewellers shop, where the owner of the shop allegedly burnt many important documents. On reaching the Prateek Jewellers shop at Bhatt Ji Ki Badi, the officers struggled to enter the premises as the doors were locked from inside.  Finally, the team managed to get in, to find the burnt documents, which they took into custody.

Around eighteen business, as per information received, were raided today.  These included the premises of SRG Group, a Marble Group, Mantaram B.Ed. College, the residence of Shyamlal Gurjar and a Jewellery Showroom on Bhadbhuja Ghati.  Residences of the suspects and their close relatives were also targeted in this Income Tax raid.

Sunil Mathur, Director, Investigation Wing, Income Tax Deptt. informed that, “In total 18 teams have been deployed in the whole state for these raids. Today’s raid in Udaipur City is also a part of this spree.” The Income Tax officials, though, are not disclosing the entire list or further details of these raids.
