Markets of Ghantaghar under CCTV Surveillance
Sarafa Association of Udaipur has installed CCTV cameras around Ghantaghar, Bada Bazar and other adjoining areas. The Ghantaghar Police will monitor these cameras spread across the area and the digital video recorder is kept in SHO Chamber.
The development came under action after series of burglaries reported in several jewelry shops of the area. By CCTV’s help, both police and Sarafa Association are expecting better vigilance to evade any criminal activities.
Inder Singh Mehta, president of Sarafa Association informed that currently 10 cameras are installed in different areas which include main market of Ghantaghar, Moti Chohta, Harben ji ka Khurra and Bada Bazar. Cameras are equipped with additional features like night vision and backup etc.
CI Durgashanker informed that in the entire area, 6 CCTVs have been set up which have been installed with the help of general public. The most important role played in this action is Ghanshyam Nathani, jeweler by profession who invested 1.5 Lacs for the CCTV installation.
In the device installed at the chamber of SHO, recordings of 16 cameras can be displayed. In the coming time, the attempt to put around 10 more CCTV camera is in the pipeline. This action will marginally reduce the incidences of crime, theft and robbery in the area.
Ghanshyam Nathani while speaking to UT informed, “All jewelers in this area are like my brother. This action of installing CCTVs will only help us reduce the crime growing in the area and help police eradicate such problems. It is considered that all the big shops in the vicinity would be installing the cameras so that the entire area could come under surveillance.”
Police will see the recording of all cameras after a week and if needed the locations will be changed.
