Rajasthan Bus Strike Ends after Talks; Services Resume

The private bus strike in Rajasthan ended Thursday night after talks between bus operators and the authorities; demands to be considered after Assembly session

Udaipur, Feb 27 2026 - The private bus strike that had been ongoing in Rajasthan since the midnight of February 23, 2026, came to an end on Thursday (February 26) night. Normal bus operations resumed immediately after the strike ended.

The bus operators took a call to end the logjam after a round of talks with the authorities on Thursday night at 10:00 pm. A meeting was held at the Transport Headquarters between Transport Commissioner Purushottam Sharma, Collector Jitendra Soni and private bus operators. During the meeting, it was agreed that the operators' demands would be considered after the Assembly session.

As per reports, authorities have assured the bus operators of their demands being met including - implementing tax policies in line with neighbouring States; transparency in fitness and permit procedures, stop heavy penalties without prior notice and unnecessary seizure of buses, address alleged harassment by departmental officials and establish regular dialogue between operators and the Transport Department.

Additionally, regarding actions being taken under the Motor Vehicles Act, a letter will be sent to the Ministry of Transport seeking amendments to certain rules. Other pending demands will be resolved after obtaining legal opinion.
