Udaipur Police Department will soon initiate a campaign for the rehabilitation of all those people who are addicted to drugs.

Superintendent of Police Udaipur Ajaypal Lamba in a meeting held today at the Police line conference hall stated that in the coming 15 days, the department will launch a district wide anti-drug campaign which will work for the rehabilitation of all such people who are addicted to narcotics and wasting their lives.

Till now, since last 15 days, 112 such people have been identified and more are being searched to make Udaipur a drug free city. The UPD will make efforts to eradicate the supply of the drugs in the city so that the victims can live a prestigious and healthy life, S.P said.

While addressing the Beat Constables and the intelligence officers of various picot stations of the district S.P said, “To make this campaign a big success we need to have an active involvement of the family members of all such drug addicts as they will help the department in identifying their problems but before that one should have trust on the department.” Other than their involvement NGOs will also play a vital role in making the campaign a big success and for which their capacity assessment has already been started.

S.P also instructed all the best constables to stay in touch with all the identified drug consumers of their areas through phone calls or in any other ways and keep them in notice.

Once the work of identification will get over then in the second phase, the process of implementation will start & it will be done in different ways. The anti-drug police will follow the path of prevention by publicity, by identifying the suppliers of the drugs and by breaking the supply chain. But if after all the efforts an individual is unable to quit the habit, then he will be detained and a strict legal action will be taken against him, informed S.P.

After the rehabilitation process all the victims will be kept under police observation and a track of their activities will be maintained.

S.P at the end stated that AdSP Anant Kumar will be the Nodal officer of the whole program and one can share any information of a drug addict to him.
