A Volvo bus operated by a Delhi based travel company was seized at Udaipur by the officials of RTO. The chase continued for 7 hours as the driver of the bus got alert, seeing the team of RTO following the bus.

The officials seized the bus against Rs. 27 Lac tax due on its owning company and the company failed to pay the same.

To deflect the team of RTO, the driver of the bus took a longer route while heading towards Udaipur from Delhi. But due to continuous efforts of RTO team it was seized at Udaipur.

The bus belongs to a travel agency from Delhi and it runs on the route between Delhi to Udaipur. The bus started its journey from Delhi on Tuesday and was scheduled to reach Udaipur at 6.30am and was further scheduled to move towards Ahmedabad, but before that, team of DTO, O.P Berwa seized the bus and shifted it to a yard at Dhikli. All the passengers in the bus were dropped off at Udiapol.

As per the officers, the travel agency has an overdue of tax of around Rs. 27 Lac for the 10 buses owned by it. In this relation, the department had served notices to the agency, but the owners of the agency legitimately changed the bus route to avoid paying taxes.

“The officers of Road Transport however traced the route and followed the bus and seized it. The bus will be auctioned within 7 days to recover the tax,” said the Additional Transport Officer, Prakash Rathore.
