Udaipur, Feb 03, 2026:  A strange incident in Udaipur came to light recently. This error was reportedly linked to the e-Challan system adopted by Udaipur RTO.

An e-challan was received by Advocate Deepak Dangi, against the license plate of his car, which is a Maruti Suzuki DZire. The funny part was that the e-Challan stated the fine to be against not wearing a helmet! The owner of the vehicle, said that he was driving the car with his seat belt on.

As per the explanation givenby the RTO, the mistake happened due to a mix-up in the vehicle numbers. The challan pertained to a bike where the rider was not wearing a helmet, but the number captured was that of the car owner.

Accordingly, after getting this complaint, the traffic department checked the issue and quickly corrected the mistake. The wron challan was removed and the correct challan was sent to the bike rider.

The traffic department said that such errors would occur due to technical issues and the vehicle owner has 15 days to report the matter to the traffic department, as per DySP Traffic, Ashok Anjana.
