Two New Police Stations to Come Up in Udaipur | Budget 2026
Udaipur, Feb 12, 2026: Two new police stations at Ayad (urban area) and Mamer (rural area) will soon be coming up at Udaipur, subsequent to the announcement in the Budget speech by Diya Kumari, Dy CM of Rajasthan on Feb 11. These two stations will further strengthen the policing infrastructure in the district.
Ayad Police Station will be an upgrade to the existing Police Outpost (Chowki) that currently falls under Bhupalpura Police Station, and the Mamer Police Station will be an upgrade to the existing Mamer Police Outpost (Chowki).
Approval and Timelines
As per the procedure, the District Police Superintendent's office will submit a report to the Home department on the proposed boundaries of the new and existing Police Stations and the final approval will then be granted. Once approved, new boundaries will be defined on the basis of Municipal Wards and roads. The new Police Stations will likely become operational within 4-6 months from the announcement date.
Ayad Police Station - Impact
When the Ayad Police Outpost is upgraded to a Police Station, certain areas will be taken from the existing police stations at Bhupalpura, Pratapnagar, Sukher and Hiran Magri. It is believed that upgrading the Ayad Police outpost will significantly change the geographical jurisdiction of the existing large Police Stations like Sukher and Bhupalpura. While some parts of Pratapnagar and Hiran Magri will be reallocated to Ayad Police Station, the biggest impact will be on the Sukher Police Station. It is expected that the work load of Sukher Police Station, which is considered to be the largest and busiest police station in Udaipur city will reduce by 20-25%, while that of Bhupalpura Police Station will reduce by 10-15%. A 5-7% reduction in work load will be achieved by Hiran Magri and Pratapnagar police stations
Ayad Police Station - Inclusions
Areas such as New Bhupalpura, Shobhagpura, New RTO, Bohra Ganeshji, University Road, Durga Nursery Road, Sevashram, Thokar, BN College, Subhash Nagar, and Kumharon ka Bhatta are likely to be included in the Ayad Police Station. According to police officials, the Ayd area has seen rapid population growth in recent years. With the development of the university, major hospitals, and new colonies, complaints and criminal activities have also increased. The new police station will help residents address issues without traveling far.
Mamer Police Station
The current Mamer Police Outpost is located near the Gujarat border, a route known for smuggling. Parts of Panarwa and Kotda will be merged to form this station. This will improve policing and response times in these areas and enhance crime control. Police records indicate that this route has been used for trafficking liquor, opium husk, and cannabis. With a full-fledged police station, manpower will increase and regular checkpoints can be set up, helping control cross-border smuggling and vehicle theft.
