Commercial Court Orders Auction of Water Resources Department Office in Udaipur: Rs 2.21 Cr Dues

Udaipur, May 13, 2026: In a major legal development, the Commercial Court in Udaipur has ordered the auction of the local office of the Water Resources Department after ruling in favor of Andhra Pradesh-based company SCL over unpaid dues. Acting on the court’s order, the department office located opposite the city’s Akashvani Centre was auctioned on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Advocate Abhishek Havar, representing the company, said that SCL had carried out construction work for the department, but payment of nearly ₹2.21Cr remained unpaid. In the year 2019, the original complain had been filed with the Udaipur Commercial Court after which the Court had ordered for the payment of Rs 2.21Cr to the plaintiff, SCL. Following repeated requests and no payment, the company approached the court once again in 2023.

After hearing the matter, the Commercial Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff SCL in 2023 and directed the department to pay ₹2.21 crore along with 9% interest. However, despite the order, the payment was allegedly not made by the department even till 2025.

As a result, the company initiated execution proceedings, following which the court first ordered the office to be seized and later directed its auction, which was carried out on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

• In September 2021, the PWD building in Bharatpur was autioned for Rs 1.1Cr following a compensation case for an employee's death in the line of duty.
