To facilitate local transportation further, Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) has decided to set up 9 new buses on different routes of the city. The decision was taken in the proposal presented in Board Meeting of UMC.

UMC will purchase the buses under DGS&D (Directorate General of Supplies & Disposals) Rate Contract. DGS &D is an arm of Government of India which will not require any tender procedure.

Although UMC is prepared to step forward but it might take few more months to see the new buses on city roads.

According to Dhanpal Swami, president of Garage Committee, UMC, “The new buses will have 19 seats and each bus will cost Rs.19 Lac. The idea of new buses was first proposed by State Minister Gulabchand Kataria who also promised to back the project financially by giving 50% of the budget from his quota.”

Presently there are 6 city buses running on Dabok-Rampura route every day.
