Elevated Road Update: Girder Placement Work Starts
According to the companies in charge of the project, if the pace remains consistent, the Elevated Road project will be fully complete within two years
Udaipur, Dec 12, 2025 - The under-construction two-lane Elevated Road from the City Railway Station to the Collector’s Bungalow — a project aimed at easing traffic congestion in one of the busiest parts of the city — has now begun to take shape. After the central pillars were erected along the main road, work has started on placing cemented girders at the City Railway Station construction site. Three girders have already been installed. According to the construction companies in charge of the project, if the pace remains consistent, the project will be fully completed within two years.
This Elevated Road is based on a special engineering technique in which most of the structure will stand on single pillars. This design ensures that the road below will not narrow at any point, and traffic movement will remain unaffected. It will also preserve space for future infrastructure such as roads or metro lines. The road will be constructed using two beams and a portal frame, similar to elevated roads in Jaipur and Delhi, as per reports. The width of the proposed road will be around that of three lanes even though it is referred to as a two-lane road.
The Elevated Road is expected to free congested traffic corridors such as Udiapol, Surajpol, Collectorate Road and the City Railway Station areas. Once it is complete, vehicles will be able to ascend the road from near the railway station and directly come down to Court Chouraha thereby bypassing the traffic at four intersections along the route.
