Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal will celebrate its 60^th Foundation Day on 22nd February 2012, Wednesday from 7 pm onwards.

The program will continue for three days and it comprises of various dance performances and plays based on the writings of Ravindra Nath Tagore to pay tribute to him on his 150^th birth anniversary tomorrow.

Raghuveer Singh Meena, M.L.A and Dr. Shailendra Dashora, Director of West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC) are humbly invited as the Chief Guests for the program.

On the second day Dr. Furqan Khan, Additional Director, West Zone Cultural Centre will be the chief guest of the program.

According to Goverdhan Samar, Organizing Secretary, the program will begin with Citrangna Natya Natika which is based on Rabindra Nath Tagore’s novel by artists from Performance Sanstha under the direction of Dr. Laiq Husain, an official of WZCC.

On 23rd Feb. Rang Tagore Natika will be presented by the Raas Kala Manch of Hissar which will be directed by Dr. Rakhi Dubey Joshi, an official of West Zone Culture Centre.

On the last day of the event a play Ekla Chalo Re written by Ravindra Nath Tagore will be presented by the members of Performance Sanstha.

Samar also informed UT that Lok Kala Mandal was founded by Padma Shri Devi Lal Samar in 1952. The main objective of this institute is to conduct studies on folk art, culture, songs and festivals of the regions like Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

The institute has a puppet- unit that trains children, teachers & others in the art of puppetry which is very a powerful non –conventional educative medium.

The centre conducts cultural surveys of folk and tribal belts to identify and locate folk art forms and also artists & artisans. Audio-visual documentation of the various folk forms is done regularly.

The institute also conducts the courses in rural communication and extension education, it organizes campaigns to promote conservation of the environment in rural areas and give various messages to the people through puppet shows, folk dances etc.
