“Various new schemes have been developed in the state under the National Health Mission to save the children from the evils of malnutrition,” said Naveen Jain, state president of National Health Mission today at the Malnutrition Unit of Children’s Hospital in Udaipur.
Jain on his visit to the Children’s Hospital inspected the STC Unit and held meeting with the medical staff, along with the senior doctors of the hospital. He inquired about the methodology used to treat the problem and discussed various ways that could be implemented in the state to save children from malnutrition.
In a conversation with the senior medical staff, Naveen Jain advised them to develop a Cured Children Tracking System. according to this system, the treated children will be kept under surveillance and information regarding their health will be maintained on a regular basis.
Moreover, the use of various media such as Voice messages and SMS should be used to spread awareness in the rural areas.
Jain further informed that many cities are running the pilot project called Community management and one such unit has been established at Kumbhalgarh area, Udaipur. Under this management system, instead of the malnutrition child visiting the unit, an individual will be assigned the responsibility to keep a track of its health.
Initially, around 200 children are selected under the Community management program which will continue for 16 weeks. Besides this, 13 districts have been chosen where the para medical and medical staff will be provided with hard area allowance. Udaipur is also included in the list of districts.
