[Photos] Udaipur says 'Stop Female Foeticide'
On the occasion of National Girl Child Day today, 24th January, a mass rally was taken out in Udaipur. Many schools, non-government organizations, NGOs and social workers participated in the rally, which was dedicated to the cause against female feticide. The rally was organized by the Hindi daily, Dainik Bhaskar in coordination with various social organizations. Thousands of protestors marched silently through various parts of the city conveying the message of saving the girl child.
On the occasion of National Girl Child Day today, 24th January, a mass rally was taken out in Udaipur. Many schools, non-government organizations, NGOs and social workers participated in the rally, which was dedicated to the cause against female feticide.
The rally was organized by the Hindi daily, Dainik Bhaskar in coordination with various social organizations. Thousands of protestors marched silently through various parts of the city conveying the message of saving the girl child.
The rally was flagged off by boxer Vinisha Joshi. Other prominent people that headed the rally were Harish Chandra Singh and B.S Shekhawat from Dainik Bhaskar; M.P Raghuveer Singh Meena; all ward councilors; etc.
Students from various schools including Nursing college students; N.C.C cadres and women organizations participated in the procession. Representatives from several religious groups also attended the event and expressed their concern on the burning issue.
The rally started from Town Hall at 10:30 am and went around the main areas of the city, viz. Surajpole, Bapu Bazaar, Dehli Gate and finally culminated at the Collectors office.
CPS students rallied on roller skates and articulated their sentiments towards this social lesion of killing the female child. The rally ended at the Collector’s office where memorandums were handed over to the District Collector, Hemant Ghera.
