Samples obtained from over 50 locations to be sent to Delhi for testing; following report the locations for placement of the pillars will be determined
Udaipur, January 20, 2025 – Soil testing over the stretch of the much-awaited, under-construction 2.5 km long Elevated Road has already begun. Samples have been obtained from over 50 locations, from Udiapol intersection onwards. Transrail Lighting Ltd, the construction company in charge of project, will send these samples for testing to Delhi. After receiving the report from there, the locations for placement of the pillars will be determined.
The testing of the ground to determine how much digging is required for the foundation’s weight at each location has already been done.
The Elevated Road will be constructed from the City Station to the Collector’s residence in the city. The width of the road will be 12 meters and a total of 112 pillars, each 17 feet high, will be installed along the entire route. The road will be constructed using two beams and a portal frame similar to the ones used on elevated roads in Jaipur and Delhi.
The construction of the road is estimated to cost Rs 136.89 crores. Of the amount, the Municipal Corporation will contribute Rs 47.91 crores, UDA will provide Rs 61.60 crores and the State Government will contribute Rs 27.38 crores. Although it is officially referred to as a two-lane project, the road’s width will in fact be equivalent to three lanes.
The two-year project is much awaited by city dwellers because of the benefits of this Elevated Road. Not only is it expected to improve traffic flow in the urban area by cutting down on the number of road crossings but it will also allow smooth flow of vehicles during the monsoons and avoid temporary road obstructions caused by processions, etc.
