Awareness rally held in Udaipur to highlight ills of Tobacco
To motivate the city people to quit the consumption of Tobacco products and educate them about its health hazards, the administration of M.B hospital along with Rotary Club organized a rally on Saturday morning.
To motivate the city people to quit the consumption of Tobacco products and educate them about its health hazards, the administration of M.B hospital along with Rotary Club organized a rally on Saturday morning.
According to the Deputy Superintendent of M.B hospital Dr. Ramesh Joshi more than 350 people including doctors, medical students and nursing staff participated in the anti Tobacco rally. The rally began at 10 AM and was flagged off by the District Collector Rohit Gupta.
Besides him the superintendent of the hospital Dr. Tarun Gupta, principal of RNT medical college Dr D.P Singh and Chairman of Rajasthan Cancer Society Dr. Rakesh Gupta and senior members of Rotary club were also present.
Dr. Joshi further informed that the rally started from the M.B hospital premises and by passing from the major roads of the city it ended at RNT Medical College. The participants walked with various slogans, posters and banners containing messages about the hazards caused to an individual by the consumption of Tobacco products.
In the rally, mini truck displaying around 350 Kg of tobacco products that was seized by the hospital administration in the last few months moved along that became the highlight.
However to make the compound of M.B hospital a complete Tobacco free zone its administration has constituted a committee that will work in various ways. In near future the committee will advice the vendors and hawkers not to sell tobacco products within 100 meters of the M.B hospital and if anybody found disobeying the orders will be penalized with the help of the administration, Dr. Joshi added.
