Combating Child Trafficking – Workshop for Media Professionals
A one-day workshop for Media Professionals of Udaipur was conducted with the title “Role of Media in Combating Child Trafficking”. The workshop was attended by 32 media professionals from different media agencies of Udaipur district.

The resource person for the workshop were Dr. Hemandra Chandalia – Professor of English Rajasthan Vidya Peeth, Adv Prahalad Vyas – Legal Advisor of Journalism Association of Rajasthan, Shashi Prabha – Social Scientist and development professional and Dr. Kunjan Acharya – Assistant Professor Incharge Department of Journalism MLSU.
The objective of the workshop was to understand the role of media in child protection issues and how media can be converged with various efforts lead by social organizations and government in fight against child trafficking and Child Protection.
Some of the topics covered during the workshop where; Role of Media as major stake holder, Media role as per Juvenile Justice Act and POSCO Act, Media Ethics, Media as a social watch guard etc.
The session was an open forum to discuss upon issues and how the media has been playing a key role in South Rajasthan. Saroj Patnaik – Communication Officer from ChildFund India said, “this a special project by ChildFund India were the capacity of all the stake holders are built upon and all these stake holders are brought to a common platform”.
As stated by Joseph Mathew – Manager ChildFund India, under this Project Udaipur is considered as the source and Sabarkatta as destination point. And the capacities as well as sensitization of stakeholders of Sabarkatta are also built under this program.
