More than a year ago, Steve Lynch, a U.S citizen was walking at Chandpol when he first noticed Om Prakash sitting at a tea stall. Steve met him and inquired about his physical problem.
Lynch contacted many NGOs to help Om Prakash and during his mission, he also met a brother-sister from Arunachala, Tamil Nadu with same genetic disorder.
Steve Lynch was promised help from many people including a famous surgeon Mckay McKinnon, who has vast experience in operating such tumors.
According to Steve Lynch, Om Prakash was operated in Dec 2013 and will undergo second surgery after 6 months. The tumor has been successfully removed by the team of McKinnon including Dr. Kiran, Dr. Janna and Dr. Subramaniam Iyer.
It was around 8 hours operation and the main tumor which was growing with age has been removed. Dr. McKinnon says that the tumor will not grow on his face.
Om Prakash has already reached Udaipur, The surgeons said it might take 1-2 months for all the swelling to come down, stitching to dissolve and the skin to regain integrity.
According to Steve Lynch, “When I started the mission to collect funds for Om Prakash, I met a localite Sharmila Rathore who extended her help and continuously supported the cause.”
After being successful in three projects, Steve has been contacted by a patient from Nepal and two people from Kerala.
