Eight-year-old girl Laxmi, who was born without hands, will soon get a pair of new moving hands, and if everything goes well, then Laxmi will also be able to write with her new artificial hands.
Her face lit up with a reasonable smile after a local NGO came forward to help the little girl and promised to take care of all her education and living expenses till her marriage.
After the story of Laxmi Kumari hit the news headlines, a number of helping hands started approaching Ashray Seva Sansthan, the organization who adopted Laxmi.
Laxmi doesn’t have hands since birth, but her disability could not lower her escalating zeal for learning and going to school. Instead of hands, she writes from her foots, exactly like her classmates do with their hands.
After knowing about Laxmi, a team of Ashray Seva Sansthan visited her village Bansalia, some 50km from Udaipur, and met her family. Sansthan told Laxmi’s father, a farmer, about their intention to adopt the girl’s education and also her medical expenses.
Narottam Pandey of Sansthan told media, “Soon a team of orthopedic engineers will visit Laxmi to take measurement for making her new hands. The hands will be made through robotic technology and will be completely functional.”
“Many individuals and NGOs approached us and showed their desire to help Laxmi, which is a good sign for this little girl”, says Narottam.
Even after all these developments, Laxmi is not showing any excitement, but a spark in her eyes explains her dreams for life that probably will be fulfilled soon.
