Rajasthan State AIDS Control Society, under the directions of National AIDS Control Society, is organizing Migration Health Camps at several places in Udaipur district from 1st November. These camps will be organized at ten different places in Udaipur.

Rajasthan State AIDS Control Society, under the directions of National AIDS Control Society, is organizing Migration Health Camps at several places in Udaipur district from 1st November. These camps will be organized at ten different places in Udaipur.

Dr R.N Bairwa CMHO, Udapur informed, “The motive of organizing the camps is to keep an eye on the HIV positive cases, especially at the festive time of Dusshera and Diwali, when people generally migrate the most”.

Bairwa also said that the camps will be organized specially at the rural areas like Randera, Menar, Sakroda (Balva), Piplibi village, Salumber (Manpur), Amlia, Jhadol, Kotra (Mandva) and Gogunda (Nandesva). These Camps will be called Migration Health Camps and they will provide the test and treatment facility free of cost.

In these camps, the main emphasis will be laid on Aids and VDRL (sexually transmitted diseases) and the tests will be conducted for both, the man and his spouse.

CMHO also informed that on each camp a team of 5 doctors, lab technicians, Counselors and 2 Nodal officers will also be made available for monitoring of the camps. The Nodal Officers includes Dr. Raghvendra Ray, Deputy CMHO and Dr. Manu Modi.

Different types of source are being used for the publicity of the program that includes Banners, Posters, Folk Media (magician and Folk dance Performances). Last year also the same program was organized from 10th to 20th October. Last year, 2055 people were tested, of which 6 people, including 3 males, 2 females and 1 transgender, were found out to be HIV positive. 373 cases were given STI treatment last year.

Three organizations, namely Meera Sansthan which works for FSW, Link Work Scheme and Manav Sewa Sansthan which works for high risk people, are continuously working to create and spread awareness about the program.

The whole program was supported by the RSSM Department and Hindustan Zinc Ltd.
