Police has arrested a 25-year-old man for his involvement in the incident of firing that took place at Bhopalpura on 27th Jan. Three more people are still absconding in the case including the key accused Sylvester Daniel.

Police has arrested a 25-year-old man for his involvement in the incident of firing that took place at Bhopalpura on 27th Jan. Three more people are still absconding in the case including the key accused Sylvester Daniel.

According to Dy.S.P Goverdhanlal Khatik, Bhopalpura police, “The detained accused is identified as Ravi Khatik, resident of Kishanpura.”

In the initial interrogation, Ravi revealed the names of three other accused as Sylvester Daniel, Kiran Menaria and Narendra Paneri. All three are history sheeters and have several criminal cases against them but no criminal record of Ravi Khatik was found.

On 27th January at around 5:15am, all four accused went to Bhopal Pura and parked their car at the main road. Then, Sylvester and Kiran went to the house of Vimal Bhatnagar and fired on him after mistakenly identifying him as Mukesh Jain. Bhatnagar escaped the attack someway.

Dy.S.P Goverdhanlal said that the attack was planned to create terror among real estate traders of the city, so the accused can start extorting money from them. The car used in the crime is also seized by police.

Sylvester Daniel is out on bail, he is not allowed to move out of Gujarat and has to present on every 5th day of the month at Navrangpura Police Station, Ahmedabad.

The special investigation team came to know about alleged involvement of Ravi Khatik. The team started investigation under the direction of S.P Ajaypal Singh Lamba, Ad.S.P Lakhman Singh and Dy.S.P Dy.S.P Goverdhanlal.
