Dhanmandi Police arrested two people for extorting money from a local businessman. Police also recovered a pistol and a knife from both accused.

Following the information that both accused will come to take money from the businessman, police officials in civil clothes spread across Teej Ka Chowk. As soon as the accused arrived on motorcycle, they were surrounded by cops and arrested immediately.

Dhanmandi SHO Rajendra Jain informed, “The accused Aqib and Rizwan, both resident of Lohar Colony threatened a local tea trader Paras Taldar on phone and tried to extort money from him.”

According to the report lodged by Taldar, the series of phone calls started few days ago when one of the accused called him with female voice and tried to befriend him. But when Taldar ignored the friendship proposal, the accused texted him that the girl he is talking to is relative of an underworld don and now he should be wary of the consequences.

Later, both the accused came to Taldar’s shop and demanded Rs.5 Lac. When Taldar denied, he was allegedly beaten and threatened by the accused.

Frightened by the incidence, Taldar informed the police. A special team under SHO Rajendra Jain was formed and a trap was laid to nab the accused.

Police has arrested both under Arms Act and Extortion.
