Police has nabbed two people for the murder of Praveen Paliwal in the day light shooting incident at a garment shop near Shastri Circle. The accused Sahil Harijan and Karan Singh were arrested from Gogunda Toll Naka while they were waiting for a Jodhpur bound bus.

The police team headed by Dy S.P Goverdhan Lal consisting of S.H.O Bhopalpura Police Station, Ratan Chawla and Buddh Narayan from Special Police raided the location and arrested both.

As per Ajaypal Singh Lamba, S.P Udaipur District, “The police team received information that both accused were planning to go towards Jodhpur and would catch a bus from Gogunda Toll Naka. Following the information, the police team reached toll naka and arrested both.”

Sahil Harijan, resident of Nara Khara and Karan Singh, resident of Railway Colony, Ambamata are two of the four accused involved in the murder of Praveen Paliwal on Sunday 16th March, when Paliwal was shopping at a readymade garment shop with his family and an associate Vijendra.

The other two accused Dalpat Singh and Chanchal Maharaj are still absconding.

According to S.P Ajaypal Singh Lamba, “All four accused Sahil, Karan, Dalpat and Chanchal went to the readymade garment shop on Sunday evening where Paliwal was shopping. Chanchal was waiting outside in the car while other three went inside the shop.”

After having a brief conversation with Praveen, Sahil opened fire on him with close range. When Vijendra tried to save Paliwal, other accused Karan Singh opened fire on Vijendra. During the continuous firing, one of the bullets bounced back and hit Karan Singh injuring his leg.

All the accused fled away in a car driven by Chanchal Maharaj while Praveen and Vijendra were rushed to hospital with critical injuries. Praveen was declared dead soon after being admitted to hospital while Vijendra is still receiving treatment and his condition remains critical.

According to police, Karan and Sahil have few cases of assault registered at various police stations while Dalpat and Chanchal were history sheeters of Hiran Magri police station. Dalpat Singh is also said to be a sharp shooter.

In the initial interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that they are members of Naresh Harijan’s gang who is a history sheeter of Surajpol police station and the attack was planned under his directions.

Naresh made the plan of executing Praveen as he believed that Praveen was behind the recent attack on him at Iswal village. The attack was planned out of revenge and he started keeping an eye on Praveen’s routine activities, informed S.P Ajaypal Lamba.

As per Lamba, Praveen Paliwal and Naresh Harijan worked together for a while but later they had issues and both separated. After that, both started their own property business.

“Being in the same trade, they often had issues with each other but they would sort it out,” said S.P.

The police are now searching for other absconding accused and also interrogating Sahil and Karan for the recovery of weapons used by them for firing. Both are booked under the charges of murder.
