2 cops arrested, 1 absconding for demanding bribe from a History Sheeter
The police have arrested two constables under charges of taking bribe of Rs. 20,000 from an ill-reputed and wanted person in lieu of NOT arresting him under a case against him.
The police have arrested two constables under charges of taking bribe of Rs. 20,000 from an ill-reputed and wanted person in lieu of NOT arresting him under a case against him. A third constable, their accomplice in this charge, has fled. The Anti Corruption Bureau has done this arrest.
The incident has stunned the Police department as it is one of its kind, where an accused has helped the ACB to arrest allegedly corrupt policemen.
According to Additional S.P Rajendra Prasad Goyal, the complaint was received from Vikram Panwar, resident of Bedla. He lodged the report that three policemen Nahar Singh Meena, Dheeraj Sharma and Khushiram Jat, all deployed at Sukher Police Station had first demanded Rs.1 Lac for not arresting Vikram in a case pending against him.
Vikram negotiated the amount to Rs.20000, and the accused policemen asked him to give the money today evening near the Police Station. Vikram had already approached ACB and the team laid a trap to nab the accused red handed. As soon as Vikram gave the money, Nahar Singh and Dheeraj Sharma were arrested by the ACB team while the third accused, Khushiram Jat ran away.
ACB have also started the House search of all accused Policemen. SHO of Sukher Police Station was not available for comment.
C.I Harishchandra and other officials of the ACB viz. Omkar Singh, Jitendra Sanadhya, Dinesh Kumar, Danish, Akhtar Khan, Munir Mohammad, Ram Avtar and Gajendra Kumar were part of the team commissioned for this task.
