Three people were arrested by police for stealing eight blank cheques and withdrawing more than Rs. 6 lac from SBBJ Bank with the help of fake signatures and identity.

Three people were arrested by police for stealing eight blank cheques and withdrawing more than Rs. 6 lac from SBBJ Bank with the help of fake signatures and identity.

Surajpol Police has started the investigation on the basis of first information report lodged by the victim Omkarlal Jain, owner of Prakash Timber at Sarvritu Vilas.

Jain lodged a complaint on January 2nd that eight blank cheques were stolen from his office by unknown people. During investigation, police zeroed on a prime suspect Shivlal Keer, resident of Dabok who used to sell woods to Jain for past many years.

Shivlal came under suspicion after an amount of Rs.5.30 Lac was deposited in his account. Police detained him and during interrogation, Shivlal revealed the names of his two associates Prem Keer and Kishanlal Keer.

Shivlal told police that, he intended to steal the cheques when Jain was paying him Rs.13000 through cheque on 13th Dec. Just after four days, i.e. on 18th Dec, he came to Jain’s office and stole 8 cheques in Jain’s absence.

From Dec 26 to 31, Shivlal and his associates withdrew several amount of money from Omkar Lal Jain’s SBBJ bank accounts by using fake signatures. The total amount withdrawn was Rs.6.84 Lac whereas a cheque of Rs.24.80 lac got bounced due to insufficient balance.

Police has recovered Rs.6.55 Lacs from the accused including a blank cheque and the one that got bounced.
