In an attempt to curb escalating crime rate in the city, Surajpol Police arrested four people from Central Jail area on Thursday evening, just few minutes before the incident of firing that injured two people.

According to police, a revolver and ten bullets were seized from the accused. A Scorpio car with red light installed over it and Rs.1.10 Lac cash were also confiscated during the action.

The accused Lakhveer Singh Jaat (25), Anand Atriya (25), Manjeet Kaushik (24) and Pradeep Jaat (21), all from Haryana came to Udaipur to meet a prisoner Daulat Ram, who is lodged in Central Jail under the charges of robbery.

Now police is contacting their counterparts in Haryana to know the criminal background of all the arrested accused.

According to AD.S.P City Dr. Rajesh Bhardwaj, the accused were arrested after they tried to escape seeing a police patrol vehicle. One of the accused Lakhveer Singh is a liquor contractor in Haryana.

Regarding the red light, which is given to only top government and political officials, the accused told police that, they illegally put the flashing light to create false impression and to escape any police checking.

Up till now, the city police have arrested nearly 15 suspects with 8 illegal pistols, 2 knives and 20 live bullets.

AD.S.P City Dr. Rajesh Bhardwaj also informed that all four accused were arrested just 20 minutes before the incident of firing outside the jail.
