The leader of vehicle lifting gang along with four of his accomplices arrested during a police raid on Sunday 28th Feb.

7 stolen vehicles including five motorbikes and two cars are also recovered from them. Police is interrogating the accused to get more information about their previous offences.

City police has received information about Vikram alias Vicky from Hiran Magri, a habitual offender and leader of a vehicle lifting gang is going towards Pindwara village with his associates Pankaj Pandiyar, Om Prakash Gupta, Chandu Meena and Charanjeet Singh to sell a vehicle stolen from Sukher.

Following the information, Additional SP Sudhir Joshi has constituted a joint team including the officers Special Task Force and Sukher police station. The team later conducted a raid at Amberi area and nabbed all the accused with the stolen vehicles, said SP Rajendra Prasad Goyal.

During initial interrogation the accused accepted stealing more than a dozen vehicles from Udaipur and Bhilwara districts.

While talking about the modus operandi of the gang SP informed that the gang is having master keys of both two wheeler and four wheeler vehicles, they use to roam around residential colonies of the city to pick the vehicles.

All the arrested accused are still under police interrogation and cops are putting their efforts to get more information about the nexus involved in vehicle lifting as well as selling them, along with them cops are also trying to identify the buyers of the stolen vehicles, SP Goyal added.

S.P informed that the gang leader Vikram is a habitual offender and having more than 12 criminal cases against him including attempt to murder and vehicle lifting. He was previously caught at various cities of Rajasthan in connection of vehicle theft. Along with that, he is the brother of the notorious criminals Puneet Singh and Sameer Singh who were involved in a day light firing at Dungarpur in 2014.
