ACB nabs Deputy Registrar of Bank for bribery

Udaipur Anti Corruption Bureau caught a Deputy Registrar of Udaipur Central Co-Operative Bank (UCCB) with a bribe of Rs.10000. The accused Jaidev Singh Deval was caught by ACB at Samor Bagh area and the bribe amount is recovered from his custody.

According to ACB, the bribe was demanded from a retired Branch Manager of UCCB against passing her Rs.3.5 Lac as pending gratuity amount.

Adsp ACB, Brijesh Soni informed, “The victim woman reached to ACB yesterday and informed that the Deputy Registrar is demanding a bribe. She informed ACB officials that, she had retired from Bank but since 2012 a departmental investigation was going on against her in a case, later the bank gave her a clean chit.”

After she retired, she received her gratuity amount of 10 lakhs but Rs 3.5 lakhs were pending. She had appealed to the bank adminstration to give her that amount in 2013.

A board of UCCB was formed to take decision on the appeal of the victim and the meeting was scheduled to be held on 2nd June but later it was postponed till 9th June.

On 2nd June victim went to the bank after she was called by the accused Registrar who allegedly demanded an amount of Rs. 25000 for passing her appeal and allotting her the money.

After that, the victim woman approached ACB and complained against the accused. The matter was verified by the ACB team.

 Under the direction of ACB officials, the victim went to the accused at Samor Bagh to give the amount of bribe, the demand was negotiated to Rs. 15000.

As soon as the accused took the money, ACB officials arrested him red handed.

“A team of ACB consisting of DYsp Rajeev Jhoshi and inspector Harish Chandra Singh and their team are searching the house of the accused. Tomorrow he will be produced in court,” said Adsp Brijesh Soni.
