ACB Raids Ratanpur Highway Checkpost in Bribery suspicion

The Department of Anti-Corruption Bureau has detained more than 10 people posted on the Highway adjacent to Ratanpur border, including officials of State Transport, private and government security guards for allegedly recovering money from drivers of heavy vehicles.

Approximately Rs. 190,000 was taken into custody by ACB, which is believed to be obtained illegally by the accused. The raid was conducted at 3 am today after getting constant complaints about the delinquency.

The Department of Anti-Corruption Bureau has detained more than 10 people posted on the Highway adjacent to Ratanpur border, including officials of State Transport, private and government security guards for allegedly recovering money from drivers of heavy vehicles.

Approximately Rs. 190,000 was taken into custody by ACB, which is believed to be obtained illegally by the accused. The raid was conducted at 3 am today after getting constant complaints about the delinquency.

Four teams of ACB raided the Ratanpur check post today morning at 3 am and have taken into custody a sum of more than Rs. 190,000. The other Rs. 74,000 was collected under the pretext of toll tax.

According to T.C. Damor, Inspector General of ACB, “In the mid night raid the ACB team has detained the security guards, viz. Vikram Singh, Bhagwan Singh, Chatarbhuj and a private guard Gopal Sharma with huge amounts of cash on them.

Along with the private guards, a DTO and a few Government appointed guards were also found with illegal cash.

“Narendra Kumar Vaghwani, Motor Vehicle Inspector was picked up from his rented house that is situated near the check post while two other private staff at the cash counter, Rameshwar Singh and Deepak Singh were detained with illegal cash”, said T.C Damor.

During the operation, ACB also found that Prakash Singh Rathore, DTO was often absent from the office, as he was living in his house at Udaipur.

The check post staff has been divided into 3 shifts, i.e. from 10 pm to 6 am, 6 am to 2 pm and 2 pm to 10 pm; but of the appointed staff members, only a few were present at the time of the raid.

The ACB team that conducted the raid comprised of Pushpendra Singh, ADSP, ACB Jaipur; Jitendra Singh; Dilip Singh Chundawat, ADSP, C.I.D Udaipur; Ram Niwas, DySP, Pratapgarh and police inspectors in ACB, Kanhaiya Lal, Baal Kishan Dangi. etc.
