Agitation by Truck Drivers Union at Dabok leads to injuries

A few policemen were injured and a police vehicle got damaged in a stone pelting incident that occurred at midnight on 4th April. The people involved in the stone pelting were A group of Truck drivers, members of the Truck Union, who had jammed the highway leading away from Dabok. The atmosphere turned violent when the truck union got together and demanded revocation of the hike in Toll Tax on Trucks, by weight, which was recently announced by the State Government. According to sources, the Truck Drivers Union blocked the road near the Royalty Toll Naka at Dabok. The truck drivers were agitating against the decision of the State Government, where the Government had passed an order to charge the Toll Tax at an increased rate of Rs. 5 per Tonne. All the truck drivers resisted to pay tax on the increased rates. Sources also informed that higher officials like SDM Girva, Jasvant Singh Balot, CO, Vallabh Nagar arrived on the spot to have a word with the truck drivers and along with them police force also came to the scene. But the driversn on seeing the Police force, got violent and started throwing stones, which resulted in a few injuries and damage to a vehicle.
