The atmosphere of Udaipur airport tensed on Thursday morning when one of the American tourists was found with a satellite phone in his custody. A team of police rushed to the airport and investigated the matter.

The atmosphere of Udaipur airport tensed on Thursday morning when one of the American tourists was found with a satellite phone in his custody. A team of police rushed to the airport and investigated the matter.

The American citizen Richard Johnson (50) who came to Udaipur 3 days back was found with a satellite phone. Upon unsatisfactory reply over enquiry of possession of the phone, the police detained him. Keeping him and his wife back, the rest of the tourists who were with him in a group, were sent back in Delhi flight, said AdSP Rewant Dan.

Rewant informed that Richard had come to India on 14th March with his wife and 11 other people in a group. After landing at Delhi airport, they visited various parts of the country; stayed at Kumbhalgarh for 2 days and after visiting nearby villages came to Udaipur on 23rd March and stayed at a hotel.

After interrogating both the tourists, it was found that although Richard possessed the satellite phone, he did not use it. He was found not guilty and released later after thoroughly verifying the matter.

On Thursday morning, when the group of American tourists was at the airport to catch their flight to Delhi, Richard was found with a satellite phone and was interrogated in this matter.
