The special unit of Anti Corruption bureau of  Udaipur on Saturday afternoon arrested an Assistant Engineer of National Seeds Corporation with a bribe amount of Rs. 1 lakh which he had allegedly taken from a contractor against passing the bill relating to one of the project of the corporation.

Accused A.En identified as Yashveer Singh Rajput is posted at Jaipur and looking after various projects of the National Seeds Corporation of India.  The victim belongs to Udaipur and is working under one of the project of the corporation, during which he had completed work to the tune of Rs. 19 lakhs, said Additional Sp (ACB) Umesh Ojha.

According to Ojha the victim started working on the project since it started in March this year and used to supply various material including seeds and construction material.  He presented a bill of Rs. 19 lakhs to the accused Assistant Engineer for getting the payment, which was duly made by the accused but he raised a demand of getting 14% of the total bill amount which is around Rs. 2.4 lakhs or else he threatened the victim for not giving him work in the next project of the corporation.

On Saturday morning accused Yashveer reached Udaipur to collect the bribe amount.  The victim made him stay at a hotel in Bhuwana area; at the same time filing a complaint with the special unit of ACB Udaipur against the A.En.

Upon getting the complaint against the accused, ACB officials started verification of the matter. As per ACB directions, the victim convinced A.En that he will give amount of Rs. 1 lakh at the hotel and the rest of the amount at the time when he returns to Jaipur.

As per the deal, victim went to the hotel to meet the accused and to hand over the  amount and at the same time the ACB team raided the hotel and arrested him along with the amount.

The accused was rushed to the Anti Corruption Bureau’s office after his arrest; the amount of cash was also recovered.  ACB is also conducting a house search at Yashveer’s Jaipur residence.

In the initial interrogation it was found that Yashveer hails from Bulandshehar, U.P and is posted as Assistant Engineer in the Corporation since 1984.
