ATM Machine Damaged over a Failed Robbery

The ATM of State Bank of India located at Madri Industrial Area has been badly damaged by some unknown thieves last night.  However, the suspected muggers could not steal any cash but left a worrisome question on the security of the ATM which has no guard or watchmen.

The Pratapnagar Police has lodged the FIR given by Bank Manager, Rajendra Kumar Jain who didn’t answer any question raised by the media regarding necessary security arrangements in the government owned bank and it’s ATM.

According to the FIR, the incident came to notice today at around 9:30 in the morning when the staff reached the bank.  This asserts that the loot attempt might have been carried out after midnight.

“We are investigating through the hidden cameras installed in the ATM machine and one was outside the ATM,” said Manjeet Singh, C.I, Pratap Nagar Police.

According to the bank manager there are 5 cameras installed in and around machine, and only one of the cameras was not working.

“All cash is safe but we cannot disclose the amount of cash kept in the ATM,” said the police.

Interestingly, the police station is also close to the ATM which has no security guard; there is one more ATM of ICICI nearby which also does not have any security guard.

The growing crime at ATMs indicates an immediate need of reformed security measures to be implemented in the ATM for safety of public and their money.
