Azam surrendered in front of CBI, sent to Judicial Custody
One of the most dreaded and long absconding accused Mohammad Azam was sent to jail by Udaipur court today. Pratap Nagar police will now obtain production warrant to interrogate Azam, who was wanted for his alleged involvement in several cases including extortion, robbery etc.

Azam, who is also a eye witness in Soharbuddin Sheikh’s fake encounter case, has surrendered himself before Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Mumbai on 26th December. CBI later informed concerned police officials to take his custody. Udaipur police brought Azam in town today morning by airplane.
“He has been sent to judicial custody for allegedly involved in a close-to-death attack on BJP activist and builder Motilal Dangi in June this year”, said a police official. Azam is believed to be the mastermind behind the attack.
In a press conference that was held at S.P.’s office today, Hariprasad Sharma (S.P.) in his address to media said, “Udaipur police was keeping close tab on Azam’s activities; the team went to Mumbai thrice in connection with this.”
“With the joint effort of Special Operation Group (SOG), Mumbai Police and ATS (Anti Terrorist Squad), we were collecting facts about his locations and activities, in the process, we also raided several places in Mumbai”, said Sharma.
Sharma said that Azam is a wanted criminal and history-sheeter, he has several cases registered against him in Pratap Nagar, Bhopalpura, Surajpol, Hathipol and Ambamata police stations
“Azam contacted CBI official N. Raju and surrendered before him at their economic cell situated at Charni Road Mumbai”, Sharma informed media.
According to police Azam was wanted in the case of firing on Moti lal Dangi, he also allegedly directed his nephew Danish to fire in-air opposite to Police Control Room at Delhi Gate.
When asked, what made Azam to surrender before CBI, Sharma said, “we created pressure on him; many of his men were already arrested.”
Where, Udaipur police is feeling relaxed nabbing the wanted criminal, Azam denies all charges against him and said that his name was being falsely used by people and he was not involved in any crime.
“My name has been used to extort money, I am not involved in any such cases,” said Azam, while talking to media personnel, waiting outside court today.
Azam also said that he was not living in Mumbai but staying in Gujarat and when he came to know about what is going-on in Udaipur he decided to surrender to CBI.
“I feel CBI safe, so I went to them and surrendered”, Azam told media.
S.P. Hariprasad Sharma believes that after the arrest of Azam, there will be fall in the criminal activities in Udaipur.
