Pradeep Singh Bhati, resident of Kota and prime accused in the murder case of Shekhar Panchal, 22, student of Pacific College Udaipur has finally confessed to murdering Shekhar, who was kidnapped on 31st December 2011 from Udaipur.

After being arrested on 5th February from Kota’s Dadabadi Police Station, Bhati was brought to Udaipur where he had been sent to a remand of 7 days.

In the Police interrogation, Bhati told the Pratapnagar police how he executed the murder of Shekhar and made the false kidnapping to get a ransom of Rs.1 crore as he was under heavy financial debts.

According to police, Bhati had lived with Shekhar Panchal for some time and there he learned about Shekhar’s financial position which he assumed to be very strong. He tried to kidnap Shekhar before also but failed.

On 31st December, Pradeep Singh Bhati again tried to kidnap Shekhar. According to the police, Bhati planned to take Shekhar somewhere and make him drink to the point of inebriation. However, he succeeded in taking Shekhar with him in his car but when Pradeep offered him alcohol, Shekhar refused to drink.

This frustrated Bhati as his plan was not taking the desired shaping once again. Hence this time, he intentionally stopped his car and told Shekhar to check the car engine to see what was wrong with it.

While Shekhar was checking the engine, Bhati, who used to keep baseball bat in his car came out with it and smashed Shekhar’s head 3-4 times with it resulting in Shekhar’s immediate death.

Pradeep took Shekhar’s bloodied body with him to Kota where he tried to burn it, but when he failed to do so, he put the body in a sack and threw it into the Chambal River, the body was later found on 10 January.

There on, Pradeep played another game of forging his own suicide by leaving his clothes and suicide note at Hardwar and lived in many cities including Mumbai, Goa and Lucknow.

Finally, when he found himself in lack of money, he returned to Kota, where he was nabbed by the Police.

Pradeep Singh Bhati used to do property business where he had debt of more than Rs.60 lakhs.
