Cash and valuables worth lacs seized from AEN’s locker

Cash worth Rs. 18,33,500 and huge quantity of gold and silver ornaments were recovered today from the Bank Locker of the Assistant Engineer of AVVNL, who was caught by the anti corruption bureau red handed for demanding bribe from a factory owner against allotting him 24 hours electricity for his commercial use.

Cash worth Rs. 18,33,500 and huge quantity of gold and silver ornaments were recovered today from the Bank Locker of the Assistant Engineer of AVVNL, who was caught by the anti corruption bureau red handed for demanding bribe from a factory owner against allotting him 24 hours electricity for his commercial use.

As informed, the ornaments seized by the ACB team include 5 Silver bars weighing around 4kgs and 77 grams along with 700 grams of gold jewelry. These valuables and cash worth Rs 18,33,500 was found in bank locker of the Assistant Engineer in Udaipur Mahila Samridhi  Co- operative bank  situated at Town Hall.

The bank locker was seized after confiscating the belongings, informed Adsp ACB Rajendra Prasad Goyal.

It may be noted that the Assistant Engineer was trapped by the anti corruption bureau on 11th January when he was caught red-handed taking Rs. 3.5 lakhs as bribe. He had demanded this amount from a factory owner in the city. 2 other officials from the department are on the run after their name was also linked to the bribe case. Both the officials have been suspended by the department whereas the Assistant Engineer is currently out on bail.
